Around 35 - 45 minutes and can vary depending on audience gameplay

Performances of Hummingbird take place at the Electronic Visualization Laboratory at UIC (842 West Taylor Street, #2032, Chicago, IL 60607)

A gutsy teen has to outsmart her mother’s narcissistic boss and survive dangerous new technology in Hummingbird: a live, immersive adventure that transforms theatrical storytelling utilizing cutting-edge, virtual reality technology.

Hummingbird is currently SOLD OUT. Last-minute tickets may be returned; please contact the Box Office at 312.443.3800 (12noon – 5pm) for updated availability.

Please note: UIC event attendees are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a negative COVID-19 test no more than 72 hours prior to attending. Patrons must wear face coverings at all times while inside UIC facilities. Learn more at UIC.edu.

What to Expect

Every performance of Hummingbird has two types of tickets; Virtual Reality and Observer Tickets.

VR ticket holders will wear a virtual reality headset, move around the space and will actively participate in the outcome of the story. Please be aware that the use of a VR headset may be disorienting and can cause motion sickness, nausea or dizziness. Wearing the headset is not recommended for patrons under the age of 12.

Observer audience members will be able to watch the virtual elements of the performance play out on a large video wall in the same space as the VR participants. Observers will be seated throughout the performance and will not directly interact with the story.
